Sen Specter got Bush Jr to back him 2004 and got Obama to back him in 2008. every day this sordid affair of a camapign has gone on in PA I wonder what has this party switch wrought? Specter is now attacking Sestak in certain areas of PA as being opposed to gun rights. Specter in the 90s and in 04 opposed efforts to control guns. But what gets me is Specter, while saying one thing in some parts of PA like "Im against gun control" turns around and says "you can count on me to be loyal to Democratic policy."
Like today Specter goes to the AA churches saying "Im loyal" and urges the black community to save him. Of course Specter has helped put in t he courts folks who oppose civil rights and gun control. And Sestak is calling Arlen OUT...
The senator wants rural PA voters to know, and NOT urban voters to know, his oppostion to key gun control legislation in the 1990s. Specter is running ads on rural PA news websites. Sargent points out the ads- oh what a party switch hath wrought...
Specter hits Sestak for favoring ... gun control
So it's come to this: In a bid for conservative and rural Pennsylvania Dems, Arlen Specter is now using targeted ads to attack Joe Sestak for getting an "F" rating from the National Rifle Association.
In a targeted way, Specter also seems to be touting his vote against the assault weapons ban -- a vote he took as a Republican. One wonders how this ad would play among urban Dems in Philadelphia -- if they ever were to hear about it.
Click here and look on the right to see one ad from Specter slamming Sestak for having backed rational gun control laws:

When you click on the ads it takes you to Arlen’s website for some nasty stuff:

Here is what Specter’ s camp says on Sestak:
Joe Sestak – An F from the NRA
Posted on 05/11/2010 @ 07:44 PM
PaGunRights.com concluded, "Ultimately, Joe Sestak is bad for Pennsylvania’s gun owners, something reflected by his previous F rating with NRA."
In a recent televised campaign debate Joe Sestak said, "I also support the assault weapons ban which Arlen Specter opposed and voted against." He also said, "I know Arlen Specter has 100% support from the NRA, and I know I’m at the other end of the spectrum."

Congressman Joe Sestak received an F in 2008 from the NRA.
In 2009 and 2010, Gun Owners of America gave Sestak a grade of F-.
Sargent on the mess:
Specter voted against the assaut weapons ban in the 1990s and opposed extending the ban in 2004. And Specter wants conservative and rural Dems to know that Sestak attacked him for this. That's presumably meant as a negative for Sestak -- and a positive for Specter. Sestak plans to make an issue of this today in Philly.
It's another mark of what the Dem establishment's party-switching deal with Specter has wrought.

Some more info out on this-
TPM says Sestak is informing voters in Philadelphia at his rallies all about Specter touting his anti-gun control votes. Of note is Sestak‘s camp is circulating flyers showing hwo similar Specter gun ads are almost identical to the same ads used by the GOP against Obama in 2008:

Sestak went today to the black community in Philadelphia and spoke to Mt Ephraim church right after Specter begged for their votes. Sestak made sure to point out that Specter was touting his anti gun control agenda and even running ads. Sestak also brought pics of the ads running on various news sites. The AA community is being urged to vote Specter bc the Dem establishment backs him. Specter has worked against gun control for decades, something the AA community might be oh very alarmed about.
